We loved getting to be a part of this super fun project!

Our client had tons of homeschooling books, supplies and curriculum. When we started this project, a lot of items were still in boxes from a recent move. Immediately, we were able to see that the client had a lot of great, functional and stylish pieces that we could use for this space. The problem was the client needed some fresh eyes for this space and had a few desires to make the best use of their homeschooling space. That is where we came in!

The main goal of this space was to obviously be a place to teach her boys, but more importantly give her boys a calm and peaceful place to read and learn. This room is also the first room you see when you walk through the front door, so it was important to make the space aesthetically pleasing.

The first thing we do when we come in to a space like this is just DIG IN. We started opening boxes and making categories so the client could see what she had. Once we had opened all of the boxes and sorted all of the items, the client was able to come in and go through small categories of items and decide whether she needed and/or wanted those items to stay. Let me just say, she was soo great at purging and making room for the items she and her boys used and loved most! Because of the smaller categories we made for it, this process was super simple and kept her focused on her job - - purging!

Once we knew what was staying in this sweet homeschool room, we got to work making it functional! The client had a great closet right outside of this room that we were able to use for her curriculum and activities/ projects that needed adult supervision. Therefore, we were able to use this space for items her boys could have access to and make it a cozy place to learn.

With a cozy reading area, an inviting learning table, a quiet, secluded desk area, & a bright environment, I can see a lot of learning taking place in this family’s home!

Let’s take a peek into the homeschool closet

With any space we organize, we like to create zones. This is really just a fancy term for keeping similar categories together. We were able to use the rolling cart for frequently used supplies and tools that is easily rolled into the homeschool room while it Is being used and easily rolled back in to the closet when it’s not being used. The clear stackable bins were sorted into projects and activities the boys could grab (with adult supervision) and have fun learning while keeping everything together. Two of the higher shelves were used for mom’s schooling curriculum and tools she needs to have access to in order to best teach her boys. These items are for her and didn’t need to be accessed by the boys, so they went up higher. Lastly, the top shelf was used to keepsake items for each son.

We absolutely loved the opportunity to create these functional and stylish spaces for this client and her family!
