Tips for Organizing your Kitchen

Tips for Organizing your Kitchen

Often times, we will hear from clients who are ready to get organized, but they aren’t sure where to start. Typically, we always recommend starting with your kitchen. The kitchen is the hub of your home and where your entire family spends a lot of their day. A well-organized kitchen not only makes cooking and food preparation easier, but it also increases efficiency and saves valuable time.

Tips for organizing your kitchen

  • Place items close to where you use them when possible.

  • Put like items together.

  • When possible, put your everyday dishes close to the dishwasher to make unloading your dishwasher easier.

  • Use cabinet door space to hang items if you're limited on cabinet or drawer space. Oven mitts are great to hang on a cabinet door close to your oven.

  • Adjust your shelves! This is a small detail that can make a big difference!

  • Place smaller items in front of larger ones so you can see what is behind the item.

  • Use turntables for oils, vinegars and spices when stored inside a cabinet.

  • Place small appliances inside cabinets near an electrical outlet. That way, when you’re ready to use the appliance you can place it on the counter, use it and put it right back.

  • Make sure frequently used items are lower while Less used items go higher up.

  • Donate items you never use.

Keep in mind that organizing is always an on going process that needs maintenance every now and then. Also, as you use your newly organized space things can always adjust based on your families ongoing and ever-changing needs. Organization is never a one time thing!
